Informing Community Leaders
Water 101 is a new educational outreach program offered by Upper District, as part of our 2014 Community Outreach Plan. Water 101 is hosted in partnership with the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG), San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority, and the Main San Gabriel Basin Wastermaster. Water 101 serves as a water-focused educational series for local elected officials, city managers, public works directors, community leaders and city/legislative staff within the San Gabriel Valley.
The educational series is a conference style program focusing on topics highlighting the history of the San Gabriel Valley Watershed, agencies providing our regional water supply, current water supply and outlook, integrated approaches to water sustainability, water quality, stormwater solutions, current water legislation and policy, and an overview of existing conservation programs. For a further look into the program, please scroll through the Water 101 resource guide below.
Water 101 also consists of a San Gabriel Valley water supply solutions tour which highlights regional facilities and infrastructure, current projects, and an overview of San Gabriel Valley water infrastructure. Please visit our “Take a Tour” page for more information.
The third component of Water 101 is an in-depth look into existing water conservation best practices, programs, and rebates that cities and other leaders can implement within their communities to save water at both the residential and commercial levels.
