Firescaping the Foothills Townhall
Director Anthony Fellow and Director Jennifer Santana presented the virtual “Firescaping the Foothills” Townhall on Thursday, June 24, 2021. The townhall was in partnership with the City of Arcadia, City of Monrovia, California American Water Company, and the City of Duarte.
As California’s population and temperatures continue to grow, so does the likelihood of wildfires. The ten most costly wildfires in U.S. history have all occurred in California — the top two in the last three years. Douglas Kent, author of Firescaping, highlighted the essential qualities of a protected property. Doug focused on emergency access, structures, defensible space, and the role of plants in fire protection. Doug is a seasoned professional whose presentations are dynamic, educational and inspiring. He has been working to create fire protected communities since 1993.
